The non-profit public organization Institute of Democratic Standards was founded in 2019 in the city of Kiev. The mission and work of the Institute of Democratic Standards are guided by the purposes and principles contained in its founding Charter. The public organization "Institute for Democratic Standards" is a voluntary association of individuals established for the implementation and protection of human and civil rights and freedoms, satisfaction of public, in particular, economic, social, cultural, educational and other interests of its members and or other persons.
When the "IDS Foundation" emerged, its Director and ideological inspirer turned out to be among the refugees, which is why he was able to personally experience the activity of various state and non-governmental institutions in the field of examining and solving refugee problems. Actually, this was one of the key factors in setting up an organization to deal with issues and problems related to refugees and migrants, providing them with priority assistance. The unique nature of the "IDS Foundation", as well as the targets and objectives set out in the Charter of the Organization allow it to perform activities on a wide range of issues.
The organization's activities are guided by the Constitution of Ukraine, the Civil Code of Ukraine, the Law of Ukraine "On Public Associations", the Convention on the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees, the Law of Ukraine "On Refugees and Persons in Need of Additional or Temporary Protection", other current legislation of Ukraine and this Charter. The legal basis for the activities of the Organization are also regulatory documents and decisions of a general nature, which are adopted by the Organization within the limits of their charter powers and are binding on all its members.
The government of the Organization shall be carried out in accordance with the principles of democracy, transparency, the election of governing bodies, subordination and executive discipline, taking into account the regulatory documents of the Organization. The governing bodies of the Organization shall be: General Meeting of Members of the Organization, Directorate of the Organization, Director of the Organization. The General Meeting of Members of the Organization (hereinafter referred to as the General Meeting) is the supreme body of the Organization, which has the right to make decisions on any issues of its activity, including those within the competence of the Directorate.
